Spring 2014 I have had the pleasure of being the recipient of many neighbors’ efforts the past two weeks. Following knee surgery I have been unable to drive and yet needed to get to physical therapy, doctor and acupuncture appointments. My large dog Hank needed walks and people arrived and walked him even in the rain! Julia, only 7 years old is a faithful walker, with the support of her moms. What a thoughtful family. Our newly established Neighbor Network (I have taken to calling it Neighbor to Neighbor) has been the source of my supply of helpers. What a wonderful concept Gail Jonas and others established. Yet another reason Healdsburg is such a great place to live. Some of my drivers I had never met before, and some were old acquaintances who didn’t realize I had had surgery. All have been reliable and cheerful, and patient, as I walk soo….. slowly. I look forward to being healthy again when I can give back all the good deeds bestowed upon me. Many thanks to those who have coordinated, driven and walked, as well as the offers for store trips and postal pick up. You have all made my recovery so much less stressful.
Most Sincerely, Penny Mabe Chambers
